European Insurance Contract

The Polish Insurance Association, in cooperation with the Civil Law Department, Faculty of Law and Administration of the Warsaw University, is organising a seminar devoted to the European Insurance Contract draft and its impact on national legislations.

The works on the projects, ordered by the European Commission, are carried out by the “Restatement Group” – a group of experts composed of representatives of the scientific circles from numerous European countries. The group members will participate in the seminar, including Professor Dr. Helmut Heiss from the University
of Zurych, President of the Restatement Group, who will present the state of works on the project.

The seminar will also present the result of works in the scope of the insurance contract in the Civil Code, accomplished so far by the Civil Law Codification Commission. The meeting constitutes a forum for discussion on the proposed solutions, as well as their impact on the Polish law and the insurance market.

Among the participants will be eminent guests, representatives of the science of law, such as Professor of the Warsaw University, Krzysztof Rączka, PhD – Dean of the Warsaw University Faculty of Law and Administration, Professor of the Warsaw University, Maciej Kaliński, PhD, Professor Aleksanfer Chłopecki, PhD,
Professor of the Warsaw University, Michał Romanowski, PhD, Professor of the Gdańsk Unviersity, Ewa Bagińska, PhD, and Dr. Józef Zych, Vice-president of the Polish Sejm Extraordinary Commission for the changes in the Codification.
The honorary guest of the seminar will be Professor Eugeniusz Kowalewski, PhD.

The seminar will be held on 9 October 2013, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., in the Belvedere restaurant in Łazienki Królewskie Park,
1, Agrykola Street in Warsaw. After the seminar, the participants are invited to a banquet.
For the PIU members the seminar is free of charge.
