Andrzej Maciążek decided to leave the PIU Management Board

Andrzej Maciążek, long-time Vice President of the Polish Chamber of Insurance, decided to leave the Chamber’s Management Board. He justified it with many years of involvement in work for the insurance market, with which he had been associated for 35 years.

The resignation decision was announced during the 12th PIU Congress in Sopot by PIU President Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński, who thanked his colleague and friend for his contribution to insurance market development and many years of involvement in Chamber activities.

Andrzej Maciążek has been associated with the Polish insurance market for over three decades. From 2000 he worked at the Polish Chamber of Insurance – first as Director of the PIU Office, then as Management Board Member and Vice President.

His experience also includes holding managerial functions in many insurance institutions. In 1996–1999 he was president of the management board of TUiR Gwarant. He was the co-founder of ATU – Travel Insurance Company SA – the first insurance company established as a joint-stock company under the Act on Insurance Business of 1990.  At ATU, he was a member of the supervisory board and then became Vice President of the management board. After the company was taken over by a new owner, he assumed the position of management board member of GERLING Polska S.A. Insurance Company. (1995–1996). In 1994–1996 he also sat on the supervisory board of the International School of Management – now the Kozminski Academy.

Andrzej Maciążek is a physicist, a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He developed his knowledge of insurance, among others, at the University of Insurance and Banking in Warsaw. He speaks English and Russian.
